Aegithina tiphia deignani Hall, 1957 [HB#1100] Original Description:Aegithinatiphiadeignani Hall, 1957 Ibis 99 (2) p.148 Taxonomy: The type of this subspecies is from Myanmar though phenotypically the males are very similar. It has been used as the name of this southern Indian population which is an intermediate between humei of northern plains and multicolor of southwest India (AR2001). This name continued to be used here though a fuller revision would necessitate a new name for this population; it does not make biogeographical sense to have the same name for disconnected populations in India and Myanmar. Distribution: Southern Peninsula from Maharashtra, Andhra, Telangana, most of Karnataka except southwest, Tamil Nadu except the extreme south. Specimens: BNHS, NHMUK, FMNH, ROM, USNM, YPM
