    Taxonomy: Includes pulchra Koelz 1939 from Bhadwar, Kangra, Himachal.
    Distribution: Breeding: Sub-Himalayan foothills from Kashmir, Jammu, east through Himachal, Uttarakhand, N Uttar Pradesh, W Bengal; hills of C India from W Rajasthan, E and S Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, E Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Odisha, NE Ghats of Andhra and Telangana; along the W Ghats from Surat Dangs, W Maharashtra till about Goa and NW Karnataka. Non-breeding: Throughout the peninsular India from Maharashtra, down till the tip of the peninsula as well as Lakshadweep. Straggler to NE India.
